The Wim Hof Method is a way to tap into the hidden power of our own physiology. By learning to recognize and feel the body’s reaction to stressful triggers, we become more in touch with the nervous and cardiovascular systems. The WHM gives quick and easy exercises to tap into our autonomic systems and control our mind and body’s reactions.
The three pillars of the WHM are breath, cold exposure and focus.
Brad and Maylene discuss and teach the mechanics of activating physical responses to stressful environments that allow for switching between sympathetic (fight or flight response) and parasympathetic (rest and relax). If we’re not using, exercising, training, and/or load testing the natural mechanisms that help us deal with stress, then we aren’t able to deal with stress well.
The WHM gives us a way to exercise our natural mechanisms that help us cope and adapt.
Benefits from the method are founded in science and include:
- more energy
- reduced stress levels
- an augmented immune response to swiftly deal with pathogens
- buildup of brown adipose tissue and subsequent fat loss
- a fortified immune system
- improved sleep, quality
- balanced hormone levels
- reduced inflammation
- production of endorphins
